I just purchased a new Intel 2915 wireless card with some of the money I got from my consulting work at COE. Although they (Intel) say this only works on centrino laptops, they lie. Running just swimmingly on my AMD Turion64.
<geek>The old wireless card is 16bit PCMCIA and actually belongs to my lab. It only supported 64bit 802.11b. This one is a mini-PCI card for internal installation into my laptop. I went with this one because of the great support it has in linux. Popped open my cover, tossed it in, guessed which wires to connect, and booted up.
Another great thing is that my laptop’s wifi button is hardware activated, which means it works no matter what operating system I use. Just one more reason I do not need window$.</geek>
