I once again had the honor of preaching at Christ Central Presbyterian Church. We are in the middle of a series on the Ten Commandments. It happened to work out that I got #6: You shall not murder. You can listen (mp3) to it here.

A Little More Elder

Everyone should email my clone and wish him a Happy Birthday. Yes we come of age today. I decided to get him a My Clone is Awesome shirt to celebrate. I did get one for myself as well, so now we just need to get a picture of us together wearing them.
In other news, two Sunday’s ago I was nominated and elected to become the first Ruling Elder for Christ Central Presbyterian Church. I have the Presbytery’s examination at the end of the month which I need to study a bit more for.
Decision
I made a decision. My office has opened a position on the DPP project. I will serve as the web developer 25% of the time. My remaining time I will be creating BSC core web systems for all of the studies.
It is nice to have that decision behind me. Several of the offers I got would have fit me well also, so it was a hard choice.
Options Update
I thank God that he has given me a couple options to go from here regarding my career. I have received two formal offers from good companies. My current employer, the GWU Biostatistics Center wants me to stay and hopefully will provide me a clearer picture of what that would look like very soon (i.e: please tell me tomorrow). Now, unfortunately, I must agonize over a decision. Thank you all for your prayers during this season.
God answers prayer
But not always with the answer we would like. I learned this morning that the competitor received the contract to be the coordinating center for TrialNet.
What this means for me: I have no idea at this point what my official termination date will be. I really do not have much to do as the majority of my work was new development, which has been halted. I will be kept on staff for a little while in case there are questions. Right now there are no other positions in my office that relate to my skillset, so I have begun the job search in earnest.
Camille and I are continually reminded of God’s faithfulness, in taking us to Ithaca, then down here to be with all of you. We are confident that His grace will continue to sustain us in this uncertain time.
4 things not to do on vacation
- Get a wicked sunburn (bad sunblock)
- Get injured (Flare up of right knee’s tendinitis)
- Stress out whether you have a job when you get back (Still no word from NIH)
- Spend most of the time on a computer (Or so I am told)
Cat Away
And the mice play. The rest of the family is away. I am all alone. Can you say “Recipe for Disaster”©? I have a history of doing weird things while Camille is away. What should I do this time?
. 1 Mad Scientist
. 1 Empty House
. 11 Days
. 1/2 tsp Chaos
A Dangerous Fathers Day
As a Fathers Day present, my family decided to get me the Dangerous Book for Boys. What can I say? I have an awesome family. Not that I really needed to be more dangerous than I already am.
Sermon 3
Last month I had the honor of expounding upon God’s word as it is written in Psalm 96. Our Pastor was at a youth retreat and he asked me to give a message on Basic Church Values: Missions. You can listen (mp3) to it here. This was the third opportunity on my life to preach. Go ahead and tell me what you think. But a more important question than how good it was is, what changes has the Holy Spirit impressed on your heart?
