Snow snow snow

Feb 3, 2010, 11:50pm. Snow is so pretty at night.

Fridge fixed

If you follow my twitter feed you would have seen that our return from Ithaca last Saturday was eventful. Today our fridge is finally fixed (again). This time they replaced the motherboard (a known problem with the model).

Camille mentioned that it was like living having only manna for 5 days because we could not store things that needed to be kept cold. We could only gather/buy what we needed for that day. It got me wondering if in a Costco culture, do we really believe that God will meet our daily needs?

Note: The manna analogy seems to fail if you associate Ithaca with Egypt (though I felt a bit like I was in bondage there while a grad student). Are we wandering in the desert of Maryland right now? Where is the promised land?

New Home

Well, everything went pretty smoothly. We moved in a couple weeks ago to our new townhouse. 2 weeks ago we painted the kids rooms and let them air out. Anne’s is now a very pretty light purple color. Drew’s is a good solid blue. They both are very excited about having their own rooms. We also managed to get the tail end of the Pier-1 Kids closing sales and got some head/foot boards for the kids at over 90% off. Total score. Hopefully I’ll be able to put them together in the next couple weeks. Camille also convinced me to go to Ikea. Neither of us had ever been and, man, what a place. They certainly do not make it easy to exit! Thankfully they have a child care place so the kids were not utterly bored. It reminded us of the home store version of Wegmans.

Home and Hearth

We found out today that the offer we placed on a townhouse in Gaithersburg was signed by the seller. So, hopefully in a couple months, we will be moving to our new house. Interest rates are not as low as we would hope, but we have no complaints at God’s provision.

No House For You

Well, the sellers retracted the contract as they could not find a property to buy themselves. So we are back to the drawing board (or the web board) to hunt for something else. Sigh.
